Zambia's mining landscape has traditionally been dominated by copper and cobalt; however, there is a surging demand for auxiliary non-metallic minerals. The utilization of clay bentonite has become critical in the region's drilling operations and environmental remediation efforts, reflecting a shift toward diversified mineral utilization.
Due to the tropical climate and specific soil acidity in the Copperbelt and Southern provinces, local industries face significant challenges in water purification and metal recovery. This has led to an increased reliance on high-porosity zeolite pellets to manage ion exchange processes in industrial wastewater.
Furthermore, the growth of the local construction and coatings industry in Lusaka and Kitwe has created a gap in the supply of high-purity mica pigment powder, forcing many operators to seek international suppliers who understand the specific heat-resistance requirements of the African climate.
