Myanmar possesses vast untapped reserves of non-metallic minerals, yet the processing sector often struggles with inconsistent purity levels. The high humidity and monsoon climate of the region pose significant challenges for the storage and handling of bentonite powder, requiring specialized stabilization techniques to prevent clumping and degradation.
Currently, the industry is shifting from basic raw ore export to value-added processing. There is a growing demand for activated carbon for water purification in mining sites and clay bentonite for civil engineering and drilling fluid applications in the oil and gas sectors of the Irrawaddy basin.
Despite the potential, the lack of standardized refined processing equipment means that many local operations rely on imported high-grade additives. The integration of mica pigment powder is becoming more prevalent in the local construction and coating industries as Myanmar urbanizes.
